Horror Magazine publisher puts his skin up for sale on Kickstarter! [Press Release]

Las Vegas, NV October 15, 2021 - Gore Noir Magazine, celebrating it’s 10 years in independent horror print, has launched it’s 5th and most exciting Kickstarter campaign. Keeping in line with the subject matter of the issue featuring Hellraiser, Mitch Rafter will be allowing those who pick the $2,000 perk, to tattoo their logo or design on his skin.  That’s right!  You will be forever etched in ink on his skin!  This issue of Gore Noir is a once sold out re-issue of their Hellraiser homage, featuring exclusive interviews with Pinhead himself Doug Bradley, as well as, Barbie Wilde, Simon Bamford, and Nicholas Vince who also played cenobites in the 1988 Hellraiser II film. The campaign will be going the full 30 days, ending on November 14th, 2021.  The campaign aims to raise a minimum of $3,000 for rising print costs of the 64 page full color publication, but the publisher targets blowing that number out of the water.

This magazine is not just an exact reprinting of the sold out issue, it will feature a new cover artwork by Stephen Strange.  The artwork itself is also an homage to Todd McFarlane’s iconic and often reproduced Spiderman #1 cover.  With all the news of Spiderman No Way Home and the brand new Hellraiser series that is going into production this mash up cover couldn’t come at a better time!  Those who will step up to support Mitch’s independent horror print magazine can choose from perks including:  Exclusive stickers, New shirt designs, posters, Hellraiser magazine reissue in both regular and 3D cover versions, trading cards, ad space, and of course your logo or design on Mitch’s skin.

If you haven't seen or at least heard of this movie, I'm assuming you've lived under a rock your entire existence. A Nightmare On Elm Street is about a teen girl named Nancy who starts being stalked in her dreams by a severely burned man. A secret the parents kept from their children comes to light as Nancy discovers why the man, Fred aka Freddy Krueger, is killing teens off one by one..

Friday the 13th (1980)Never question a Mother's love for her child. Friday the 13th is about a group of camp counselors getting ready to re-open a summer camp where, years prior, a young boy drowned. Halloween (1978)
Talk about the definition of tall, dark and moody.. Scream (1996)

IT (2017)
In the summer of 1989, a group of friends who call themselves the Losers Club come together to fight off a shape-shifting being, disguised as a clown, that is feeding off the children of Derry. This remake stands on it's own as a classic. Now to be fair, the original IT (1990) was a great film for it times, but because of limitations it couldn't live up to the full potential of Stephen King's book. Give this film a chance and in the end... you'll float too!

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
Before Michael, Freddy and Jason, we had Leatherface. Leatherface is inspired by a real life serial killer named Ed Gein. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is about a group of teens (two being siblings) going to visit a grandfather's grave that has recently been desecrated. They make the mistake of picking up a crazed hitchhiker and then their lives are in danger as they come face to face with a cannibalistic family.

The Amityville Horror (1979)
"GET OUT!" Based on a true story, newlyweds George and Kathy Lutz move into a beautiful home in Long Island with their children where a mass murder was committed. The family starts experiencing strange things within the house and eventually are run out by the supernatural forces that are inside. This flick will surely make you question ever buying a home with a brutal history.

The Evil Dead (1981)
The movie that proves nothing good comes from going into the woods, The Evil Dead introduces five college students in need of a vacation. They go to a secluded cabin in the woods where they discover there is evil lurking within. After finding an audio tape and book, flesh possessing demons are released and one by one they are taken. We're going to get you... not another peep... time to go asleep..

Jaws (1975)
This movie had people terrified of the water for years. When a killer shark causes terror on a beach community in Amity Island, the local sheriff along with a marine biologist and a eccentric seafarer come together to hunt the beast down. Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, this flick proves why it's never a good idea to not listen to the Sheriff.

Hellraiser (1987)
"You opened the box, we came!" If you're into sadomasochism then this is the film for you.... maybe. When Kirsty's father Larry and step mother move into his childhood home, unknowing to them the house is still occupied by Frank (Larry's brother). Frank used a supernatural puzzle box to summon demons known as Cenobites. Now Frank requires a blood sacrifice to escape the sadistic demons. Hellraiser is not for the faint of heart so proceed with caution.

28 Days Later (2002)
When a group of animal activists break into a laboratory with intention to release the chimpanzees, they discover that the chimps are infected with a virus that causes rage. Not listening to the scientist's pleas, they release the infected chimps with disastrous results. Twenty-eight days later, Jim wakes up from a coma and soon realizes he's alone in the hospital. As he begins to search for others, he soon discovers that majority of the population is infected and are no longer human. Will he survive?

The Exorcist (1973)
This movie will have you hating pea soup and not able to look at a crucifix properly for awhile. When a 12 year old girl named Regan becomes possessed by The Devil himself, two priests come together to try to save her soul. Inspired by true events. This head turning flick will surely give you nightmares and make you cringe at the thought of ever playing with a Ouija Board.

Trick R'Treat (2008)
Five interwoven stories that occur in the same area on the same night. A couple finds out what happens when you blow out a Jack O'Lantern before midnight, a high school principal has a secret life, a college virgin might finally meet a guy that's right for her, a group of teens play a mean prank that goes too far, and a mean old hermit gets a visit from a very special trick r'treater. This fun film will have you celebrating Halloween at any time of the year.


Now of course there are MANY, MANY more horror films I will always love to suggest and recommend, but for now, here's your starter pack into the genre of horror.

The Creature Cometh!

Hello there Creature From the Black Lagoon fans!  Decided to grace you with a post about our upcoming CFTBL special issue!  YES this issue is shaped like a coffin!  It's Black and White in honor of all the old school horror films that came before as well.  The cover features artwork by Hagcult and there's a few other pieces and a short interview with Hagcult inside as well.  In addition to all this you'll find some original artwork in this issue that you won't be able to find anywhere else, as well as, interviews with writer of Lady from the Black Lagoon, Mallory O'Meara, and artist Carla Yeatts.

LetGo app horror VHS found gold!

Hello there Ghouls!  This here article is a little tale of how I came across, what is apparently, the 4th most expensive VHS horror tape from the US according to VHSCollector.com!  In preparation for our 15th issue (preorder here) and my own personal move to Dallas Texas, I had started to sell off some of my excess collection.  While talking to my friend about the toys, records and oddities that I was selling off they suggested and app I had never heard of called LetGo.  I downloaded it just to check it out and I quickly got hooked.  Not to sell mind you, but to get free stuff and find MORE things to add to my collection and to resell.  VHS has been a recent (read 5 years) addition to my collection repertoire and I usually stick to the movies that I can't live without or random cheap movies that I haven't seen yet.

Enter the LetGo app!  While searching I found that lot's of people were selling VHS on the app but not many had any decent horror.  This all changed with a post I had seen on the app selling VHS for $1 a pop and just from the photos I saw a few horror titles that caught my eye.  There is a way to message straight through the app so I messaged the seller and told him I was really only interested in horror and by the end of the next day he had messaged back saying he had 39 horror total and there was a list of titles.  I'd say about 9 of them were ones that I could honestly say I really wanted with a few being duplicates that I could resell.  I messaged him back and advised that I could take them all for a deal if he wanted to work one or just buy the 9 outright.  He messaged back "Honestly at this point I'd let all 39 of them go for $20".  That works out to a little over 50 cents a tape, right on par with Goodwill so I couldn't pass it up!

We met up at a gas station, the thirty nine tapes were divided up into two HEB bags (if you're not from the south/Texas this is an awesome grocery store check it out when you're around) which I loaded into my car.  The same car that was already packed with all my belongings headed up to Dallas later that day.  I took a couple minutes to dig through the bags with my girlfriend and some of the tapes were awesome and some were pretty off the wall and obscure.  The ones I really liked were Motel Hell and this alternate cover of Return of the Living Dead that I hadn't seen.  I was pretty happy with my purchase and started researching some of the tapes online.  Which lead me to eBay and trying to find out how much they were worth.  A search for one of the more obscure tapes, Mama's Home (AKA Captives), lead me to NO eBay results.  I had to turn to the Google.  Below are some links to what I found in my Google search.

First was a listing on VHScollector.com for the tape which listed three people as wanting it and ZERO collections on the site that had the tape.  Which tipped me off that this tape might be rare!

There was also a blog post about it that, unfortunately, I can't find again about people never seeing a copy of the VHS and only seeing it on a video on YouTube in a serious collectors stash.

Which lead me to this YouTube video:

The reviewer makes many references to the tape being rare, and just about never seeing any on eBay ever.  This is all confirmed by the comments saying that they had seen one or two show up on eBay but they went from $355-$650 and they hadn't seen any go up in years.  Which I found the next link to confirm.

Apparently it's listed on VHScollector.com as the 4th highest priced US horror VHS.  Not bad for a random horror lot pick up?  I'll list some photos of the tape here.  Also I really had no use for the tape and would much rather invest any proceeds towards more magazine merchandise for you guys!  I made some posts on Facebook and had 3 different people offer me from $400-$500 but I decided to roll the dice and see what eBay could get me.  Currently the tape is at $415 on eBay and you can check on it here!

It's with great excitement that we announce that Gore Noir Magazine will be signing on to vend and sponsor both 2017 additions of Sinister Creature Con in California!!  Sinister Creature Con 2016 was such a great success that they are branching out to bring us a Spring and a Fall horror convention for Northern California.  The first convention will be taking place at Stockton Arena in Stockton California on June 10-11th, 2017.  The great folks that put together the convention are already making announcements on guests for this show and taking applications for vendors.  (highly suggested you grab a booth as the convention draws in TONS of real horror fans!)

The second convention will be taking place at Scottish Rite Center in Sacramento California on October 14-15th 2017.  Last years show taking place in October was amazing.  It was a great way to get in the mood for Halloween by grabbing awesome products from the vendors as well as photos and autographs from the celebrities in attendance.  On top of all this they had after parties going for those of you who like to party with fellow horror fans.  We will make sure to have a drink and a couple billion shots with all of you crazy fans out there.  Are you ready?  Grab your tickets now and tell your friends!  You won't want to miss this!!

Soylent drink being advertised on Facebook is a real thing!

With a tag line like "Enjoy a meal as versatile as you." You'd think that the makers of Soylent know about the 1973 movie Soylent Green.  That movies plot is that in the not too distant future there's a company called Soylent Corporation that is manufacturing rations for the starving New York City population.  Well these major ingredient of this Soylent Green ration is found to be..  Wait for it..  Human!  Yes!  Soylent Corporation is feeding the populace human.

Now why would a company put out a product under the Soylent name without even thinking of the past of this very same moniker?  Are they just naive of what thoughts comes along with the Soylent name?  Are they very aware and just hoping that no one can even remember that movie?  Maybe they know all well about the Soylent Green movie and are hoping for some controversy and to maybe sell some product as a result?  I'm not quite sure but I'll go ahead and send them an email and see if they respond.  I'll post my findings here as an update when I get word back.  Keep your eyes peeled!

Now I know it's only 2016 but I guess Soylent decided to get a "leg up" on the competition?  "People need it.. in the year 2022" I'm just at a loss for words.  Below is a screenshot of their website.  Feel free to go to Soylent.com to check out what they have to offer.  It's apparently a subscription based "meal" in a bottle.  You can get up to 144 "rations" a month for a discounted price of $348.  That's only $4,176 dollars a year.  That would give you a little less than 5 bottles a day.

It comes in at 400 calories a bottle and claims to be Vegan/Animal Free.  Can you eat human and still be Vegan?  I mean are we considered animals?  I'm being silly here obviously..  This is based on the "Drink 2.0" of Soylent.  It also says it is not organic, kosher, gmo-free, allergen-free, or gluten-free.  Well there goes all the hopes for you gluten-free cannibals!
