Boo Batter Cold Stone Cremery Jet Black Halloween Ice Cream

So I am one of those assholes that will try anything that these companies put out that is black colored.  Yes I'm that dude..  Black Whopper?  Sure I'll throw that down my gullet..  Gimme 2 and I'll wash it down with your black cherry icee.  DONE!  So when Cold Stone Cremery came out with their self described "BOOLICIOUS" Boo Batter ice cream I had to try it.

My friend got the last of their Halloween Oreos..  The bitch..  But really the orange filling doesn't taste anything different than the regular ones so the only difference was aesthetics.  I got mine in one of their orange bowl cone thingies..  I normally don't go to Cold Stone so I was dumb and got the "I Love it!" which ended up being waaaaay too much ice cream for me.  Now..  On to the taste!

This was fresh off the press not one bite taken yet..

This was like spooning pure sugar into my mouth hole mixed with random bites of Kit Kat, M&M and Oreo..  I normally like all of those ingredients but when you just huck them into a pile of sugary cement colored ice cream it doesn't make for a good experience.  The color above is pretty spot on it's a little more bluish grey but yeah..  I'll post pictures so you can see. 

My friend loved this ice cream..  But she also was on a huge sugar high after..  Let's just say I had to hear "baby shark" way too much.  Was this worth the money and experience?  Sure!  I'll try anything once!  Will I try it again?  NOPE!  It's just waaaaaay too sugary for me.  I'd rather go with like a Mint chocolate chip or something similar.  Oh well!!  Apparently it's just their cake batter ice cream dyed black but whatever!  Worth a try!

Gore Noir:  Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions Nikki! What was it like bathing in blood? Would you ever consider bathing in real blood?

Nikki Doll:  It was wonderful, LOL.  It was actually Kool aid because I ran out of money and needed a tub of blood to make some awesome Bathory inspired pics with the amazing Michelle Star. It was cold but felt nice cause it was hot as hell that day.

GN:  Elizabeth Bathory is definitely an infamous lady for her virgin blood baths. Thoughts on her story?

ND:  Of course, I wanted to create a modern day blood bath and based this idea off of her. Not to sound like a creeper LOL but I find her fascinating! All the macabre/eerie history, myths, and unusual facts pique my interest.

GN:  I read you do both modeling and burlesque, so what's it like balancing the two? Any horror related performances in your repertoire?

ND:  I do! Well, sometimes it can be difficult focusing on both because I work all the time, do makeup freelance, and I am going to school to be a licensed esthetician/makeup artist. Right now as I currently moved from Philly to Texas not too long ago. I’m still trying to get settled and meet people in the state I can work with. I have modeled here in Texas and in 2016 I have tons of shoots booked with all kinds of amazing people.  As far as burlesque, I will be making my Texas debut in 2016 as well :). But to answer your question its tough at times especially because I don't have much money and I’m in a completely new scene.  Pretty much all of my past performances have been horror related from a werewolf, to killer housewife, to zombie, and I plan on doing some traditional burlesque as well as making new horror performances this new year.

GN:  If you were able to transport yourself onto the set of a horror film and take a role on the movie, which film would it be and which character?

ND:  This is such a tough question because there are certainly quite a few I would love to be in.  I suppose it would be really cool to have worked on and portrayed the bride of Frankenstein.  That would be amazing.

GN:  Let’s talk horror in general! What do you think about the new horror movies coming out?

ND:  HAHA…  Well I’m not a fan of new horror movies for the most part.  I mean there are a few once in a while that come out and I really enjoy them, but I’m a huge fan of silent horror films,30’s/40’s/50’s horror, old 60’s B movies, love most horror movies out of the 80’s and early 90s.  The movies that come out now, most of them suck.  I feel they don't put the effort and creativity in them that they used to.  I’m a makeup artist so with horror movies I enjoy looking at the special effects and I feel movies today lack that because they just use the computer for everything.  If they do bad ass special effects and have a fair amount of story and gore then I give it a chance.

GN:  Lastly throw out some links for yourself and give the people some parting words!

Mascara Machettes Model Interview

Gore Noir:  Thank you for sitting down with us lady!  How's life treating you?

Mascara Machettes:  Life is treating me very well, I cant complain, still pumping that red!!

GN:  We love all your bloody photos!  What draws you to the red stuff?

MM:  I've been drawn to it since a young age, 9 years old to be exact.  call me a creep, but it's definitely part of who I am (figurative and literally). The depth, the color, the contrast, the way it looks on skin, the way it drips and splatters, it all fascinates me. Its like I fell in love with blood XD

GN:  I see you like to do SFX makeup, when did you first get into it?

MM:  As a matter of fact, I tried my hand at SFX for the first time a couple months ago! I didn't realize how well I knew my way around a gash or big flap of torn skin, until the first time I tried it.  I tend to study a lot of the stuff I look at in an image, I don't just simply " look" at it, I think that's aided me in learning a lot of the stuff I do for hobbies. I'm a figure-it-out-yourself type ghoul. Find the skeletons in things.

GN:  Is that an X-men tattoo I see on you?  Big comic book fan?  Favorite villain?

MM:  It IS an X-men tattoo!! My big brother was a big comic fan, so naturally, I would get into his stuff and check it out. I always LOVED the X-men! I always wished I had some sort of power like they did. I recently found out (3 years ago) that I am, in fact, A MUTANT. I have Factor Five Leiden Mutation, which is a genetic blood mutation that cause the blood to clot unnaturally fast. I always had trouble giving blood, as they had a hard time filling up a whole bag because my blood would clot inside the needle. When I was in high school giving blood in the gym, they had to stop because I stopped bleeding, they took the needle out and a gelatin needle shaped blood clot slipped out, laying on my arm. It was pretty bad ass. Favorite villain??? She's on the fence but by far my favorite character- Jean Gray: The Phoenix. Live, Die, Reborn stronger than ever, so totes relatable! XD

GN:  Let's talk horror..  I mean we run a horror magazine supposedly..  Give us a list of your favorite horror films!

MM:  My favorites would include: Halloween, Texas Chainsaw Massacres- all of em-  Carrie, Blair Witch Project, The Shining, The Descent, Insidious, The Evil Dead, Army of Darkness (more of a comedy but meh) same with Cabin in the Woods and Cabin Fever, Shaun of the Dead. I love those

GN:  What kinds of horror shoots do you have liked up or that you want to do? 

MM:  We just did a double concept shoot yesterday! It made my soul feel good to get back into some blood. It's a "Living Dead Girl" concept, first she was alive, cooking and cleaning for all you bastards,  then she was dead...but alive, reining Queen of the Damned ;) There's going to be a private art showing for it at Art Inspired Gallery in Springfield, Mo, closer to Halloween. I'm pretty stoked, I've never been the focus of a gallery before, so I kind of want to puke a little, too, hahah. Can't wait to see what RoadRageProductions comes up with. Tasty little nugget of info, there's a real heart and tongue in these..
funny, cheesy ones. The House on Haunted Hill for some reason.. All the Nightmares on Elm Street, Deliverance, yes, I say its horror XD, Wrong Turns- I have a thing for back woods horror haha. I just recently, believe it or not, watched Hell Raiser 1,2 and 3 for the first time ever!! I LOVED THEM! First one was the best.

IMAGINER: THE ART OF CLIVE BARKER, VOLUME TWO

To say that Clive Barker has been a HUGE influence on my life is a great understatement.  Ever since seeing Hellraiser the cenobites have made many an appearance in my dreams and now, in my magazine.  Beyond Hellraiser I was able to pick up Clive's book the Thief of Always, and that sent me even farther down the rabbit hole.  I must not have been more than 12-13 when I first read the Thief of Always and the concepts and imagery that were presented definitely sparked things in my mind that allowed me to explore odd themes in my own writing.  Fast forward to this last September and our adventure BACK to Los Angeles for the Days of the Dead convention.  The only reason we really made the trek, flew out to LA, and plopped down the vending fee was to get to meet Clive Barker.

This was the only convention I had seen his name attached to in the longest time and it was also an excuse to go see a lot of the friends we had made while we lived in Los Angeles. (apparently a week is not enough to get to see all of you and I'm sorry to anyone we couldn't meet up with!)  The convention itself was really extremely awesome and that's even with LA already having hosted Monsterpalooza just two weekends back.  The sheer amount of cool celebs was mind boggling.  There were so many that I didn't even know were going to be attending.  I was amazed.  But it was all for one moment.  When we stepped up to Clive's table we were actually one of the first handful of people that got to see him.  I shook his hand first and handed him the poster that Steve McGinnis (great artist check him out) had created for our Hellraiser II anniversary issue.  Clive was so impressed with both the poster and the magazine (cover by Christopher Ott) that he asked to have one.  I gladly gave him our last copy and told him that I really wanted him to be in that issue but it just didn't work out.  He promptly agreed that he should be in one of our issues and I told him we'd be HONORED and that of course the cover would be his and that we would do everything we could to make that happen.  Here's to hoping that you'll soon be seeing the legend in our pages!  Until then check out the kickstarter for IMAGINER VOLUME TWO!  The first volume is just amazing and I would love to get my hands on both the book and some of his prints offered through Century Guild!

For over twenty years the imagination of Clive Barker has been hailed as a genius by a generation of creatives including such notable visionaries as Stephen King and Guillermo del Toro.  But where does Clive Barker find his primal inspiration?

Clive has said from his first interviews that he keeps a brush and ink next to his bed to capture fragments of dreams, and that his stories originate as visuals first- the works on canvas are more often than not Clive's inital introduction to the characters and universes that he then picks up a pen to illuminate.  The most recent example of this is his world of Abarat:

"I'm painting these pictures in the expectation that... interesting, strange characters and landscapes will come into my mind and into my mind's eye and appear on the canvas through the brush. There is something willfully strange about this process- that you stand back at the end of a night's work and you look at something and you say, 'Where did that come from?' I mean, I'm not the only artist who does that - lots of artists do that, I know. And it's been wonderful because if I had created Abarat from words- if I'd written Abarat and then illustrated it... it would not be anything like as rich or as complex or as contradictory a world as it is. Because this is a world which has been created from dream visions...  What I'm doing is finding stories that match the shape of my dreams."

IMAGINER 1 was the first comprehensive volume documenting the artwork of Clive Barker; IMAGINER 2 is an identical format- with all new words and images.  Featuring over 75 artworks and 208 pages, the book will be a gorgeous large size of 10" x 13" inches.  The book is composed of entirely ALL NEW and ULTRA HIGH RESOLUTION image captures, painstakingly color corrected to the original paintings.  The detail is impeccable, and Clive flatteringly described the difference in the detail and accuracy of the new captures to any previously printed ones as the difference between "chalk and cheese".

Steve Tefft is a tattoo artist.  He loves all things dark and morbid and inks them on people.  Steve was also crowned "Ink Master" on Spike's reality show of the same name.  Yea that one reality show with that guitarist guy.  You'll see some of Steve's awesome work in issue 8.  There's definitely a strong God/Jesus theme going on with this issue.  I swear it wasn't on purpose but it would have been awesome to have came out around Easter huh?

 Next up is "Fist of Jesus" and head over to our Facebook and look on the wall for the video to watch this awesome short movie about Jesus and zombies..  and there's a lot of fish involved..  Don't worry they're fake..  I'm sure no animals were harmed in the shooting of Fist of Jesus unless a bug or two was accidentally smothered in the INSANE AMOUNT of blood that is spilled.  www.facebook.com/gorenoir  I first found the guys who made FOJ when I happened upon their short Brutal Relax on the Popcorn Horror app.  (if you have an iphone you need to download this app)  They definitely cater to my type of crowd..  The guys who like over the top splatter and just crazy funny horror that doesn't take itself too seriously.  If you take yourself seriously..  STOP!  Just take deep breathes and move on..  It'll be okay we swear..  Okay maybe it won't be okay and we're going to hell in a handbasket but let's at least have some fun before we get there?

El Six String!!  This dude is from Austin and we found his artwork when we were eating some food at a local restaurant.  We actually sat under the piece that you see to the left.  I really want a piece of art by this guy on our wall ASAP!  Anyway..  If you can't tell this guy works in Vinyl..  The shiny, sparkly low rider type of vinyl.  It's all cut out by hand and sew together.  He gives us the exact procedure in the article but.. MAN!  This guy's amazing!!  We have a bunch of other artists and musicians and models.. Such as IDSFA, The Rhythm Coffin (article by VooDoo Rob!), Lost or Forgotten Photography, Digital Pulse, and all kinds other types of stuff in store for you for this issue so grab a preorder and wait patiently!!

Blood Lust and Texas Frightmare

With both Texas Frightmare and our Blood Lust San Antonio event coming up things are a bit stressful here at Gore Noir HQ.  Pile on top of that our move to a new spot and I'm pretty lucky to have any hair on my head right now.  We won't start talking about the greys that are coming in..

First let's talk about Blood Lust.  I just finished a mock up of the DVD case which will probably change a bit but we'll be bringing this bad boy wrapped around a dummy DVD box so people can get a feel for the packaging and purchase a presale if they'd like.  Presales will start at Texas Frightmare and will continue until a month before the DVD release.

The DVD won't be out until probably September or October so we have a ways out as we'll be putting some nice production value into the editing and whatnot.  Expect lots of bloody goodness in this sweet DVD!

Our table at Texas Frightmare will be in the same room as the folks from Walking Dead so when you go check out Norman Reedus (who will hopefully come by our booth) make sure you remember to come by our table and say hi, grab some stickers, and some magazines!  We'll be giving away free posters with all magazine purchases.

A pile of random parts..

It's March!  What does March mean?  Well it means that a bunch of people will attempt to be Irish and drink their faces off and probably end up losing all their corned beef in some random back alley.  It also means that Blood Thirsty Thursdays is coming up and this time around they are showing Killer Klowns from Outer Space!  We will be there in some capacity.  Probably giving away the stickers at the left and watching the movie.  We'll bring some mags if you want to buy some but I don't think we'll be vending.  I wanna watch the damn movie!

This year is going to be busy as all shit.  I want to come out with multiple special issues outside of our regular every 3 month deal.  Give the people something to dine their eyes on while we are working on the regular issues and stuff.  The first idea is a Zine like the days of old.  I'm thinking mostly horror bands and some interesting art maybe some hot ladies of course but all black and white and xeroxed looking.  We are even going to have them print it at Kinko's on some regular paper maybe a bit thicker so it doesn't show from side to side but you get the idea!  All DIY and cut and paste and lovely.  I also want to work on a "to hot for the regular version" mag which will basically be a bunch of ladies just as their momma made them. 

We are also trying to get into Texas Frightmare (we are on a waiting list) and if we can't get in as a vendor we'll be there as regular shmoes.  We are also working on being a part of Lonestar Comic Con.  So hopefully that happens so we can hang out and have the ladies from The Black Dahlia Haunting, Devanny Pinn and Alexis Iaconno signing some of our issue #7 that they are featured in.  If you want to buy issue 7 or the leprechaun stickers or some raffle tickets that we are still selling hit the link:

Blood, blood, and more blood!

We had fun filming our blood wrestling to be aired in a month or so on Creepy Kofy Movie Time. We always have fun ending out their taping with a bang and some blood! The ladies were awesome and because of some flakes we had a 3 lady battle royal instead of a multi-episode tournament.. Next season we are going to bring the bloody pain! The claws came out during the blood wrestling and lots of sticky fun was had as always! Kreepsville 666 clothing that is sure to have something ghoulish to cover your flesh suit up with.  Allan Graves is tattooing all over the world and bringing us brilliant pickchur books so we can feast our eye marbles on em.  Devanny Pinn tells us about her movie The Black Dahlia Haunting and also brings her costars along with her for a bloody good Gore Noir exclusive photoshoot.  Talyn Stone donates blood to our cause and we have photos of that.. of course.. Jm Grimm of the Grimm City Girls brings us his first installment of Grimm Views where he reviews some of the low down dirtiest of the genre.  We introduce you to Suzi Rubbish the bloody winner of Miss Gore Noir 2013.

Derek Mick of Obscuri has joined forces with us and is helping in our plot to hide as many lovely dead bodies as possible.  Taylor Haggard adds to her writing duties for the magazine and brings us her Putrid Picks.. 3 items that you'll want to wrap your cockles around.  Of course we are always bringing you the freshest recipes in our Cannibal Cookbook section that just recently expanded and became it's own blog, and is hoping for a future book release.
